FAUX FINISH AND TROMPE L'OEILA faux finish is literally a "false" effect. A finish that is created to imitate another material, such as marble, wood, stone, metal or leather.Trompe l'oeil is a variety of optical illusions designed to "trick the eye." Both techniques are designed to fool the viewer. The paint is real though... real color, manipulated to give the illusion of something else. An old painted wooden mantel becomes an elegant marble mantel. A solid wall can have a large window with a spectacular view, any view you want, with a little tromp l'oeil. |
